What are Primary Secondary and Tertiary Sectors? | Types of Economic Activities
Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary sectors are parts of Economic Activities.
Primary Sector
The primary sector is that sector where all the activities can be done by exploiting the natural resources Such as Agricultural activities(Farming, fishing, lodging, etc.), Mining, Oil Extraction, etc. This sector is known as the “Primary Sector” & known as the “Agriculture Sector”.
The jobs were performed in this sector are known as “Red Collar Jobs”
Secondary Sector
The secondary sector starts after the primary sector when the raw materials is been extracted and these raw materials are processed in this sector which is also known as the “Industrial Sector”. In this sector, all the raw materials are processed into the final goods/product, this sector is known as the “Secondary Sector”.
The Jobs were performed in this sector are known as “Blue Collar Jobs”.
Tertiary Sector
Tertiary Sector is that sector where services are involved and It is also known as the “Service Sector”. The final goods come from the secondary sector and send these finished goods to the main market via transport. There are other services are provided by this sector example: Education, Banking, Communications, Hospitals, etc. Hence this sector is known as the “Tertiary Sector”.
The jobs were performed in this sector are known as “White Collar Jobs”
In the tertiary sector there are two types:
- Quaternary Sector
- Quinary Sector
Quaternary Sector
This sector is known as the “Knowledge Sector where all the activities related to education, research, development, etc. It is s based upon the economic activity that is associated with intellectual and knowledge practices. This sector is called the “Quaternary Sector”
The jobs were performed in this sector are also known as “White Collar Jobs”
Quinary Sector
In this sector, high skilled personality is required to operate any operations is known as Quinary Sector or we can say that top decision are made fall under it.
The jobs were performed in this sector are also known as “Gold Collar Jobs”
